Coral polyps help the ecosystem by being food for other animals.

2. Crown-of-thorns Sea star

The crown-of-thorns is what eats the coral polyps. They can devastate reefs leaving just the calcium carbonate skeleton. This is what disrupts the ecosystem because how destructive there feeding is. They’re very long about half a meter in diameter. They are covered in sharps spines. That’s what protects them from animals and humans. The only things that eats these creatures are triton shells, painted-prawns, green triggerfish and napoleon wrasse.   Since they don’t have that many predators population can become outrages.
